Why are Early Dental Visits for Kids Important?
The Canadian Dental Association recommends that children visit the dentist within six months of their first tooth eruption or by age one.
Even though your child may not have any dental concerns or only one or two teeth, the more they visit the office, the more comfortable they become. These first visits are known as “happy visits.”
What Happens During a Children’s Dental Visit?
During a “happy visit”, we show your child around the office, talk to them about their teeth and brushing habits, and invite them to take a “ride” in the dental chair.
If your child is comfortable with us looking in their mouth, our kids’ dentist Calgary counts their teeth, checks for signs of decay, and examines their mouth for anything unusual or of concern.
Depending on how your child feels at this visit, we’ll determine how to proceed. Unless we find anything of concern, we’ll let your child set the pace and help build trust for a positive dental experience.
